Stephanie Aguayo is a Los Angeles based Latinx costumer/stylist and visual artist. She has been working as a professional dyer, painter and costume ager for three years. She studied painting in Mexico City, Natural Dyes in Oaxaca and Guatemala. She took foundational art courses at Art Center College of Design for two years and recently graduated with a Costume Design certificate from Los Angeles City College. Stephanie was a finalist this year for the Academy’s Internships in the Costume Design category. Prior to entering this creative field, Stephanie worked in theatrical marketing for five years. Stephanie is available for freelance dye work and costume aging / distressing. She has worked with small brands in Los Angeles and is working on a small, sustainably sourced line. She is also part of the volunteer team for the 2021 So Cal Fibershed Project, Slow and Local Clothing. The project will run from January-December and aims to support participants through a year of making clothing. As the granddaughter of farmers, and seamstresses, the project is close to her heart as it intends to educate folx through discovery of fiber in the So Cal Fibershed region.
